Of course it would beat the zetec-s tdci. The Fiesta is only a 89bhp 1.6 with 60 in about 11 seconds. The 120 or 130bhp GP is 9.2 or 9.5. A diesel engine is not about 0-60mph its the torque through the gears you get that is great. A petrol zetec-s is going to struggle against a diesel grande.

cheers i think im going to get 1 on finance but i didnt want to be disapointed with the performance bcos i will be keepin it for about 3 years

Well by the looks of it you'll have to go for an 08 reg or earlier, as the 1.9 engine has supposedly been replaced by a 1.6 from 58 reg onwards...

Unconfirmed publicly as yet.

Having said that - the bhp is rumoured to be the same, so this may not matter? :)

Interesting, not heard that; the 1.6 M-Jet has already replaced the 120bhp tune of the 1.9 in the Bravo, so it makes sense to do the same in the GP. There have been good reviews about it, and as you say it's going to be cleaner and (more importantly) hopefully a bit lighter across the front axle (y)

Going back to the OP, any M-Jet is better than a Ford diesel which really are as rough as a**eholes imho. It's just whether you are prepared for the whole "FIAT Experience" over three years... ;)

Is that Duncan Disorderly...? ?(y)

its 0-60 in 9.2, but i find there nothing in it between mine and my mates vectra 150 cdti which is about 8.6 0-60! Ive always consider something sub 10 0-60 a respective day to day car.

It is only an insurance group 6 car and isn't meant to be a top performer! But a remap will get you the performance if its what your looking for.. but then there the increased in the insurance premium

what about the 1.4 turbo ones they do are they any good

i drive a 150 bhp petrol 1.8 vectra as well as my 1.9 mjet 130.... the vectra is pants compared t the GP. plus its ugly and ****ing HORRIABLE inside

id deffinaly recormend the 1.9 tho if u cant wait for the 1.6 .... its a really good fun car t drive :)

Don't just think about 0-60 either, rolling starts is whats important in diesels.

You don't overtake from 0 mph do you? and how many times will you race a car to 60 and stop? You don't.

This is true as I have done test with a fiesta st beat my mjet to 60. But can keep up on a 40mph rolling start.

u think keeping 1 for about 4 years is worth it would it be possible to tune it to over 200 bhp

even though is a diesel and even though it only has 130bhp it still feels like a nippy car i have no trouble overtaking and have yet to struggle to keep up with anything, is very torquey and a really smooth drive, only drawback is off the line and 1st gear is useless but you learn to live with that and stop using it lol, done nearly 3k miles in it and hoping for remap soon :)
