Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about installing an aftermarket rear muffler on my Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet. I’m mainly looking for a deeper, sportier exhaust tone – more of a rumble than loud or raspy sound. I don’t want it to be too aggressive or drone on the highway, just something that sounds a bit more alive.

At the moment, the car is completely stock apart from a Ram Air intake. No remap, no downpipe, no midbox delete – just the intake.

I’ve been considering some universal mufflers. Would using a high-flow muffler like that be a bad idea for this engine? Could it mess with turbo performance, backpressure, or drivability?

Ideally, I want something that gives a richer sound without needing a full remap or causing issues.

Would you have a suggestion that doesn’t cost a fortune?

Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply. Using a less restrictive exhaust system is very beneficial (for turbocharged engines), so it's not a bad idea. Consider looking into Ulter. For me, I'd get the Abarth GP Ulter backbox.

After that you can get a remap and have around 150 hp. ;)

Also, if you're concerned with engine health, ditch that RamAir intake filter. That's a sponge filter that lets a lot of dust in the engine. Having dust in the engine will result in very high silicon amount in oil. This will result in cylinder bore scoring and oil burning. If you take that filter out you might see some dirt inside your intake tube before the turbo. That shouldn't happen.

Stick to OEM paper filter, or get a high quality oiled filter such as BMC or K&N. BMC is better in my opinion (the Abarth Grande Punto SS came stock with a BMC cold air intake), or get a real CAI.

Hello!

Thank you for the reply. I will replace the intake filter.☺️

I found this online: https://www.zaustworx.co.uk/product/fiat-punto-abarth-1-4-rear-silencer/

Maybe that one will bring some good noise out of the car!
