Hello there I came to start my car this morning all lights on dashboard come on yet when I turn key nothing no sound of the starter kicking in have checked battery and it has the voltage there but won't start any ideas?

Yeah tried it that got it working may need a new starter on it

A bad engine ground will also case this.
I was working on my car and had the ground off.. the starter did nothing.

12 volts on a battery means naff all :bang:, it's the capacity of the battery that needs checking, by drop/load testing it. Any competent garage should be able to do it. What normally happens is when the starter is engaged, the volts drop right down, normally associated with a duff battery.

It's a bit like saying there must be fuel in my tank because I can smell it, doesn't mean there's any usable amount in.

A quick way to get an idea of the above. Turn the headlights on and then try to start. If the car doesn't turn over but the lights stay on bright then it's in the starting circuit somewhere, if the car doesn't turn over and the lights go really dim get the battery checked
