General GP MPG - What are YOU getting?

Am nearly hitting the 40s around 38/39. Considering when I first got it was 29!

Done 10,000 in it soon. Due its first service end of Sept. :D

I drove down to Sheffield area on the weekend, from Hamilton, near Glasgow. All in all it was about a 500 odd mile round trip. I atually found my old Fiesta Zetec had slightly better MPG. The difference, I feel, is that the GP goes a lot faster and I drove a lot faster.... so that's probably the issue!

It's only 2 weeks old too, had 250 miles on the clock when I left Hamilton - so perhaps thats another reason.

I'm sure at 80 the revs in 5th gear are around 4000-4500. 6th gear then settles it to a little over 3000.

I find 6th doesn't hit 4000 revs til you're doing about 90 or so.

Only given it one long motorway drive so far, but it was over a 500 mile+ round trip.

From Guildford to Blackpool (275miles) today i got 67mpg (less than half the tank gone:D ), i filled up with BP's premium diesel at 102p and this upped it from an average of 58mpg. The car has 5600 on the clock now and i've only had it for 1600 of those. It's the 1.3 90 but with the 5 speed, i was steady at about 70/80 most of the motorway (M40/M6), it was nice and clear. I've been getting 570ish to the tank anyway and that's on short (12mile) trips to work and back. I had a Mk2 1.2 8v before and i was getting 50mpg in that so i guess i must have the knack for eeking out the most miles in my tank.

I drive lightly most of the time (if you hadn't guessed already) but there's always time for a burn from the lights (easier in the mk2, cos i'm still waiting for the turbo to kick in with the GP :p ) and even nicer now mid gear with my 90:)

But i guess to be getting the mileage i am, i must really be grannying around the roads although i don't feel i am :D

I just really wish i didn't have the turbo........................... lag.

44.6 MPG according to the trip in my 1.2 Active 3DR - with BP fuel
I got less than 42 MPG on Tesco fuel (n)

I do about 50 miles a day. 25 miles to work on A class mostly duel carriageway roads (70). Home on a mixture of A and B roads up and down hills.

i cant get anything near 45mpg from my 1.2 getting around 38mpg driving like a granny! it does my head im thinking about going for a sporting diesel. we'll see after the service...

well i havent had it long...... so full tank got us 482 miles, 80% urban tho..but it hates doing anything above 70mph on the motorways.it drinks like a fish then... 1,4 8v active sport

i got about 350 miles from a full tank and ive done about 11.5k! i think there maybe something wrong with my car..... again.....

MMmm

56 plate 1.2 3dr Active (6.5k on the clock)- getting an average of 47.4 with a mix of jorneys
07 plate 1.4 16V 3dr Sporting (600 on the clock) average of 42, with a mix, but getting better as it runs in.

Driving like a very old granny,I was getting 51.3mph from my 1.4 8v. However,as I get more used to the car and driving with a bit more brio, mpg seems to be around 48 when used on local runs. This is quite good IMHO,as the GP is just that-GRANDE,or large, in plain English. I think it could do with a tad more power for mororway use as once momentum is lost it takes ages to pick up again. I guess I`ve been driving a Fiat Coupe for too long!

1.3 90 - 5 gear.
Over the last 18,000 miles I'm averaging around 67mpg. Mainly dual carriageway driving.
Tend to refill when I get between 500 and 550 miles and always have a fair amount of the reserve left.

Any traffic jams and the economy starts to get hit quite quickly. On the other hand over summer when it was quieter for one tank I think it came back in at 70mpg....(y)

i'm upto about 900miles and i'm averaging at 37.5 MPG which is a bit rubbish.

Although I generally just use my car for going back and to to work and is pretty much stop start - and I like to floor it alot

Would you say that that is about right ?
