General GP MPG - What are YOU getting?

i'm upto about 900miles and i'm averaging at 37.5 MPG which is a bit rubbish.

Although I generally just use my car for going back and to to work and is pretty much stop start - and I like to floor it alot

Would you say that that is about right ?

So you didn't contemplate running it in then? Last week my GP Sporting (9000 miles) achieved 51mpg, but I am always very kind to it!

1.3 90 - 5 gear.
Over the last 18,000 miles I'm averaging around 67mpg. Mainly dual carriageway driving.
Tend to refill when I get between 500 and 550 miles and always have a fair amount of the reserve left.

Any traffic jams and the economy starts to get hit quite quickly. On the other hand over summer when it was quieter for one tank I think it came back in at 70mpg....(y)
I'm impressed! :worship:

I too have a 1.3 90 - 6 gear and have now clocked up 22,000 miles. My personal best, about a month ago, was 59.6mpg. I've never broken the 60mpg limit yet because just as I'm about to do so I run out of country road and have to stop at roundabouts and navigate through town. That just kills the mpg. It's a daily 42 mile round-trip.

I've tried a different way to work this week which is mostly a new bypass so I'm interested to see whether I can beat that personal best this week! Unfortunately it's also mainly up hill TO work, but downhill FROM work so this morning's 51mpg with a fresh tank of Shell is not particularly indicative either.

I'm also going to stick a big ECO DRIVING sign on my boot so GTi idiots who think I drive like a big girl's blouse will understand I'm trying to save money (and, boy, am I saving it lately with a very light right foot).

i'm getting between 35 and 40 on average around town and a solid 40 on the motorway but tbh that's with the GSR which DRINKS ALOT (its off atm so i'm doing a fuel consumption comparison) and on the motorway its at high speeds mostly which explains why not.

Personal Record is 48mpg to a tank all motorway driving! :) (with no GSR lol)

Same here, about 35 - 45 overall. Get less than 40 when doing above 75. 70 is the key to very good consumption.

But with current petrol prices I'm driving like a granny. Getting 45 ish

Is it then the 5 speed version which makes the difference in mpg? I have the 5 speed and as i mentioned before it sits in the 60-70mpg band but more often than not shows 63. I usually fill up when i get to 580 on the tank and the low fuel warning has bugged me a few times.

The answer could be down to individual driving style however.

1.2 8v, halfway through my current tank at an average of 32mpg!

average is usually 35 tho, tops of 40 if im lucky!

have to rev the thing or you dont go anywhere! lol

Hi!

Mine is 1.4 8v. I get about 6-6.5 liters/100km. 35% town driving. However, if for the first two weeks after a filling up the tank, I stay only within the city, the fuel consumption hovers around 8.8 - 9.0 - 9.2 (depends if I have the air-con on or how early I go to work.)

you're lucky you can make a comparison, im STILL waiting for my GSR!!:bang:

erm i'm not 100% sure 'cos I went to the RR day which i'd signed up for so it was just ready when I got there...tbh though there aren't many of us with the GSR's...until recently I was the only person with a 1.4 16v grande who had one! So I guess he may still be perfecting it or just over subscribed? Peter does take some reminding though...so just hassle him! It's well worth the wait though trust me :)

Just done 500 miles on motorway in a 54 plate 1.2 8v active

Averaged 59.6mpg over the first 250. 62.5mpg over last 250.. Mainly at 60mph pulsing with the odd 80mph burst :p :)

Suprisingly brilliant on fuel..

Slow as hell though :)

+ with granny driving before i averaged 42.7mpg over 518.8 miles.. 5th gear 40mph lot of time though :p

Including a couple drag races lmao

i have the 1.4 16v dyn sport and these days im getting quite obsessed with getting a high mpg andthe best ive had was 45.2 (till i turned the engine back on later...) and that was going 40mph in 6th gear through miles of quiet lonely country roads. best mileage ive had was 290 when fuel light came on.
im still not perfect at making the mpg stay high as i dont exactly like going slow...
