Got a ghost image...

...that I want to load up, laptop is playing up, so just want to wipe it and start again from a backup I made when I got my laptop, however, I'm not sure what program to use to.

I've downloaded Nortan Ghost trail, however its not installing at the moment (Got to the stage with laptop where it takes 20 minutes to open Opera in the morning).

Anyone know of any free programs that are good?

silly q Kier, but have you done a good disc clean up and defragg then a smart restore,disc clean up/defragg then restart to see if that resolves some of the issues , if its a Dell you can log onto Dell.com/support and download certain patch's/updates.

Sorry forgot to add , i use Tuneup.Utilities 2007 v7 , its 13.9mb,think i got it from downloads.com-i run this every day when im shutting down , along with doing clean ups/defrags n stuff.

I tried that, (defrag, disc clean etc), and it never really worked. Only got a 60GB hard drive, and 59GB was taken, which was why it was so slow.

Managed to go back to what it was like when I got the laptop, and w00t super fast .

Just got to install everything again...including anti-virus/anti spyware

Only install what you really need at he mo , u'l be urprised what u find u really dont need/want on there , id invest in a portable harddrive - i got a 120gb drive from ebay for £34 , gotta clear mine off as is shocking what crap iv kept.

I use norton but I happen to have the full version somewhere.

try and get a cracked version of it and it should be a piece of ****.

Was hoping to get one last pay day, but didn't get as much as I hoped, currently a 500GB one at Tesco for £59...plus 10% discount

Thats not bad really mate , have you tried seagate , maxdor direct on the net , mite get it cheaper , iv just looked on ebay for them and the tesco price is about parr-and being from there you know its kosha and you can return it if needed and they wont go bankrupt over night either!!! .
