General got a Barchetta

Went to Edinburgh on the train yesterday, bought a 1997 yellow one with 46k and all MOTs, plus lots of history. Drove it back to Sheffield, 275 miles no problems. fantastic body condition and interior. It is ready for a cambelt though, anyone give me an idea of the cost and anything else i should consider at the same time? thanks Bag

Water pump and variator if you are getting the cambelt done.

I second that, get variator & water pump done too. Your b will thankyou for regular oil changes too. I got mine done at DTR Sports in Surrey, which although not cheap, are barchetta experts. Long way to go though!

also check brake and steering wheel oil, as well the sound of fuel pump behind seats. it should not be to loud. i was "pusher" once when fuel pump died, 300 yard was never so far.

Yup first initial maintenance will cost you a buck:

steering oil
Motor oil + oil filter
Brake oil
could change gas filter too

Variator
cambelt + followwheel (make shure you got the metal followwheel, not the plastic one)

Don't forget the thermostat, as those things tend to be broken every 2 years.
If your temp doesn't get above the 2nd mark it's time to change

Thanks everyone, i put pictures on as soon as it's all polished up. i'm a little blind on costings for parts though, what are ballpark figures for water pump and variator, also a recommended garage is suggesting engine has to come out for cambelt change, is that correct?

Hi , At what mileage should the cambelt be replaced?. Also apart from the usual things to look for when buying a used car,are there any specific things to look for when purchasing a Barchetta.

Cambeld should be changed every 60.000km or 3years. what is reached first.
