I have stuff at home that kills rust. If you sand it back and apply this stuff it turns the rust black, you can then paint over it.

If its Kurust your talking about, i have some, but it doesnt seem to actually cure the rust, just make it go away for a couple of months. try something called Galvafroid (i think its spelt like that), it goes grey after drying, and doesnt need painting, BUT BE CAREFUL... this stuff is deadly, its harmful to the enviroment, animals, your skin, eyes, etc. it can KILL, but apart from that its good stuff :D

I used 'Hydrate80' (the stuff that's in practal classics all the time) but it needs 24 hrs before you can paint... And I've a time problem. I slapped some hammerite on it after it went black and hoped for the best. Oh, I'll sort it all out when I come back!

Never start restoring your car 24 hrs before going on holiday!

Oh, and to top it all off, there was nothing wrong with the motors in the tank.... It was the wiring (I've no mulitmeter). When I swapped the wires between the pumps it worked but when I swapped them back it didn't. The pulling of the wire was cutting the power. It just needed a longer bit of wire..... :bang:

Thats the great thing about the internet, you can look a fool infront of millons (ok the 3 people who are reading this then.... )

"aromatic hydrocarbons" sounds fun. Can you get an Airwick in that flavour?

Would hope not, aromatic means rings of benzene based products, if you don't know what that implies...Benzene is carcinogenic.

They now do 'BackToBlack' in a gel that you can put on with a sponge or a brush (for the fiddly bits round the mirrors or the fresh air intake for example)

It's really good at first but it don't last......

(sounds like ever fiat I've ever owned :( )

but the windscreen washers have just packed in....

Now, (I'm going to go find the manual again but just incase) can the motors be swapped or would it be easier to swap the whole tank/pump combo from the black CL.

Jim
The pumps unplug - it's difficult, but possible.

The washer pumps have a little mesh filter in them. Over time it becomes clogged with deposits from the water. If you washer makes a humming noise when you turn it on, but no water comes through, it probably only needs the filter cleaning. If you do need a pump let me know.
