Today I sold my white M-jet Sporting (Jan 2008) privately so I won't be visiting this site so frequently in future.

For a week I have been a two-car family of one since taking delivery of my new Volvo C30 2.0D SE. I am not going to criticise the GP - it is good value for money. The Volvo is in a different league with regard to build quality, finish and comfort but it is also in a different price bracket.

I wish to thank those of you who have given me advice during my 18 months of GP ownership and especially T for his knowledgeable and entertaining replies!

How much did you get for it in the end if you don't mind me asking?
If you remember I sold my 7 month old GPS several months ago partly due to not covering many miles from job change and my partner getting a fiat 500.Noticed you got the C30 atlast after you mentioned it, did you get the R design?
Must say I miss the looks and the general character of the fiat GPS and do find my much cheaper older golf gti turbo rather dull but more refined, can't say I'd ever consider buying a new VW, seem a rip-off.

Good luck with the volvo.

Good luck with the volvo.

I got much less for the car than I paid for it in January but my local dealer, Alan Gibson (Basingstoke), had given me such a good trade-in price on my troublesome Dynamic that I would have been stupid to reject that deal.

I didn't buy the R-design because I don't like the two-tone seats. The bodykit looks good except there are joints in places which don't match those on the bodywork. And I think that the Atrocious (Atrius?) 18" wheels and tyres would be less comfortable than those 17" on the SE. Am I fussy? Yes!

My partner's 2007 Audi A3 (1.8 FSi turbo) sounds similar in character to your Golf GTi turbo. It is clinically perfect and does everything well. Yawn! It cost a darn sight more than the Volvo.

What else do volvo drivers do :chin:

Good luck with the new motor don't be a stranger :p (y)

OK. So we all know that joke about the difference between a Volvo and a hedgehog. With the C30 there are no pricks on the inside!

You're, like, going to the volvo forums now or what ?:p

There is a forum called C30 World. There are far, far, far fewer problems reported on C30 World than in this forum. Not all C30 owners are old-timers like me! They talk about....interesting things like...dummy tail pipes and....economy and well, that kinda thing!

so you'll be staying here then:)

Maybe! I'm really quite pi**ed now.

After all this smalltalk about exhaust pipes I looked under my C30 and can't find it! Where is it! Apparently only the R-Design setttttttttttttt get an exhaust pipe at all!

How weird i should read this when i saw one today and i said to the mrs those look well sexy and could be our next car in a few years. This guys was minging though, his wasn't very clean. She doesn't like them though she said... hmm who does the driving :D

Good luck mate (y)

 Pull out in front of Bikers?

Do I win? :p

Yeah, I only heard this recently! It's a myth! Darwin's theory of natural selection would mean that all those who had run into the side of (relatively hard) Volvos would not be around to tell the tale. Only those fortunate to run into the side of Citroens and Fiats would survive and later be in a position to moan about Citroen and Fiat drivers. Logical isn't it?

Go away :p. Nah all modern cars are made from coke cans (crash absorbsion (or however you spell it!)).

Urban myth. Made with Russian or Asian steel like most other mobile cans on wheels these days. Its the drivers, oblivious to the outside world usually wearing some odd headwear and smoking a pipe full of Old Twist.

Ask any other biker!
