Just had 3rd year service and MOT at 12233 miles and have now completed my free 3 year Fiat service plan. The dealership have offered a 4 year plan which includes MOT each year for £559.

I feel this is good value for main dealership servicing but wanted to ask fellow 500x owners what the think.

I have a Service Plan with the dealership that costs me approx £14 per month over 3 years, so your quote seems exceedingly good value to me :worship:

Personally I prefer a good independent especially if you have a long standing association with one. As long as they use OE parts any warranty will be satisfied.

I think it's a great deal, wish I could get one like it.

Only question is your 3 years in atm, and are you planning to keep for another 4? If yes then all good, if not then is it transferable to a new owner?

Thanks for your opinions, yes I plan on keeping this car for ever so I feel having main dealer servicing is worth it. I won't replace this.

We are going to look at a replacement for my wife's 500pop, so far she quite likes an aubergine coloured lounge and a little 595 Abarth but hates the twin exhausts...........strange!

Funnily enough when we got our 500 in 2010 my missus felt the same, she thought the Abarth looked a bit aggressive and it kinda spolied the cute look. As such we went for the most powerful alternative which was the mjd lounge, with 70% of the power and equal torque to the abarth.

These days though I'm not sure if the 500 quite cuts it. It was introduced in 2007, had a fair few real modifications in late 2009 (including suspension improvements), and since then all updates seem to be merely cosmetic or better tech/ finish, etc. It's off the pace.

While the 500x is closer to the competition and I'm willing to allow this slight dropoff in overall package to get a classier italian car with great looks, I'm not sure i'd feel the same these days with the 500 vs rivals. For example the VW Up! GTI looks a funky car, and I do think it would be a lot better all round than the 500. Saying that I wouldn't buy one myself.

Also take note of real vs list prices. In the real world buying brand new and paying in full, the price of a 595 (145hp) auto Abarth is about £17k, the same price as a 500x Cross Plus 170hp auto. I know which I'd choose.

Well I took out the service plan for 4 more years, we also looked a Abarth today in grey, my wife was quite taken by it but as usual won't make her mind up until she looks at all the options.
