General Going to view Marea wednesday!!

its got good tyres because the rental place he had to buy it from obviously had to replace them not too long ago, back in the summer i'd imagen, i'll find out as much as i can on wednesday and see where to go from there

phoned the guy today and got him down to £200 :D but as its not road legal so he's delivering it for me for £50, £250 for a marea that needs a few panels aint too bad, going to view tomorrow(y)

bet your still gonig to moan

Ryan, the purchase price of the car is beside the point. Buying a crash damaged Marea, especially a 2.0 20v, could potentially cost you a fortune. I'd want the car on ramps and a chance to go over it with a fine tooth comb before I'd even consider it. It sounds to me like you've your mind made up though, so I'll wish you all the best with it and keep my fingers crossed. I won't promise not to say I told you so though... :p

We're not trying to **** you off or wind you up for the sake of it, we have a fair bit of experience in buying used cars between us and are offering you the opportunity to learn from our mistakes. It's cheaper than learning from your own.

lol, i know what steve i just thought you lot were probably being a little unreasonable, if i dont like the look of it i will be walking away so no need to worry, i'll be checking it over to best of my ability, my step dad will also be looking.

i would love to walk away with it but it might be a dog and therefore i wont be buying it, thanks for wishing me good luck, i cant wait to drive it :D

Cheers(y)

I hope the Marea turns out to be good and the crash damage is fixable and doesn't have structural damage.
Good luck tomorrow :)

Remember check the electrics - they can be painfully expencive to fix. More than bodywork or mechanics.

It's a weekend so check the roll down bumper works and closes, and the tailgate opens properly and closes. Each close on 2 catches - one each side.

The paint can wear away where the bottom door seals rub against the inside of the door frames. I doubt that would be a big issue though.

thanks for all the tips from everyone, well you'll be telling me how to fix it if it breaks :p

:yum:

hay guys, well i'm very disspointed that i couldnt have the car :(

the body panels at the fron werent too bad to be fair but the chassis was damaged :(

the rest of the car was in amazing condition, i loved it, it was muddy but just needed a good clean, and the base plates for the wingmirrors needed respraying, ran pretty well, must admit it seems to rev up slower than i imagened, maybe because it was pretty cold, didnt get a proper change to warm the engine up.

it would have needed:

new bonnet
new diver side wing
new slam panel
new front crossmember
new bumper

and then this chassis bit repairing, does anyone know how much it would cost to get the chassis done?

i took some pics for you lot.

Cheers,
Ryan:(

You mean jigging it? Definately more than the car would ever be worth unless you have the equipment yourself.

TBH, I think it's more of a parts car.

Ryan, that is not the damage of a car that hits something at 20mph, that was damaged another way and at a consideratly higher speed

i just got off the phone to my mate in the engineering/bodyshop part of college, he asked the leturer for me and its a complete no no, they can jig it and try but it would cost me more than the cars worth after being fixed so (n)

dispointed but hopfully another will come up, also i'm happy because norich union phoned me and knocked the insurance down on it to £883 (y) quotes valid for 60 days.

must say the engine in the marea made me go weak at the knees! its ****ing awsome! coulnt drive it as it was in a little farm yard, but just revving it!!! god i want one so bad now, i have been offered another one for £800 but i dont have that much atm:(

oh and i just got an interview at frankie and bennys :D
