Hi, a very happy Stilo Abarth 3 dr owner here.:D

I am interested in getting a little more power from the engine and maybe improveing the sound from the exhaust, which is very good in standard form.

Can anyone recommend some good, cost effective engine/exhaust upgrades that actually make a difference to the performace of the car.

Thanks.[8D]

Go for the old induction kit & sports exhaust combo, if your brave de cat pipe? (but keep your CAT for MOT's!). Helping the engine breath is always a good start, even if you don't get much power gain it should improve response:D

Go for the best kit you can mind, no point having a nice car then retro fitting some tat;)

Are you sure that the cars ECU will cope ?

I've heard stories of people changing the exhaust and having problems with tickover, the dealers then said the warranty was void.

You should be ok with a standard sports exhaust and a K&N.
If you go over the top and fit for example a 4" straight exhaust and a massive induction kit then the lambda/ecu will not be able to compensate and you will run very rich.
Any modification can void the warranty if the dealer thinks it could have had an effect on whatever fault the car is demonstrating.

Stick to aftermarket stuff that has been designed specifically for the car, or consider having it remapped?

As far as I know there is no method of remapping the Abarth at present - it is possible, provided someone has the time and inclination to crack the protocol on the ECU.

I spoke to an aftermarket tuner at the Autosport show who said it was highly unlikely they would do anything for the Abarth - the amount of effort couldn't be justified for the volume of sales, and they are currently putting all their effort into trying to crack the protocol on the BMWs

There is a company who can remap your ECU. www.angeltuning.co.uk

I've emailed them about my abarth. They recon you can gain an extra 16 to 19 BHP and 18 lb ft of torque. It would take about 30 mins to do, after they have road tested it with a laptop. They said it would cost around £315.

Good thing is it can be reversed after so many days cool off period or for £50 after that period expires.

Visit their site. They are very helpful.

Thanks for the good info.

The remap of the ECU sounds great.

I will look further into this.

Anyone had there ECU remapped by angeltuning?
