I have a 2007 1.9 Bravo Deisal, I need to change the glow plugs but am not sure where exactly they are as I have not tinkered with engines much! Any pointers would be appreciated.

I take it urs is the 1.9 jtd engine witch will b the same as in a GP. If it is there on the bck of the engine. Very hard to see n very hard to get to I can put a pic on if u would like. If its not a turbo they meant to b easier to get to on the front of the engine

Will do, it is the same as the grande punto diesel as it takes the same nkg glow plugs.

Here's some pics

U could do with a second person as it a tight fit n once u get ur hand in it easier to keep it there n get them 2 pass u the stuff. U will also need a quarter inch 10 mill long reach socket set n thats all

On the first picture, they are directly underneath the aluminium bit.I've got my bonnet open at the minute, got the tools, but no idea how to get at them. Can't fit my hand in and no prospect of unbolting the whole top of the engine.

Did you manage to get them out? If so, how?

I'm just heading out now to try and find the relay module mentioned on the post about a fiat stilo (sorry not allowed to post the URL as haven't posted enough times). Even if that tells me which one is faulty then I still won't be able to access it though.

Theres jus enough room 2 get ur hand in. Ull b usin the tips of ur fingers literally once uv got it in I would suggest leavin it there n gettin some one to pass u tools ect lol. There also shud b enough access with jus a couple of extention bars on ur rachet. If u look at my pics that shows u exactly where mine r.

Thanks for the offer on that Shaun - I'm 4 hours from Manchester or I might have taken you up on it! Thought I should report how I managed it in the end in case anybody else reads this. I disconnected my EGR valve from the back right of the engine so that it could be pushed back a few inches while still leaving most of the pipes to it still connected. This gave me just enough room to squeeze my hand down.Using a swivel adapter for the socket and an extension bar I managed to manoevre the deep socket down onto the top of the glow plug from the back, having first disconnected the metal fuel jet pipe (about 6 inches long with a right angle on it) that was getting in the way.
Needless to say, I dropped the socket and it ended up down on the sump tray - had to jack the car up and remove who knows how many screws before the socket rolled down onto the floor.

Without the swivel joint on the socket I don't think I could have managed it as it only just got purchase on the glow plug. Once the glow plug was off the thread I had nothing to grip the top of the plug with to lift it out and it isn't magnetic, so fortunately I had a long thin pair of surgeon's tongs, like foot long tweezers found in a scrap sale. They were perfect for feeding the new glow plug back down through the gaps as well.

Job done and car now for sale, as I've upgraded to a Skoda Superb Estate. I'll miss it, but still have my wife's 1.6 Eco Bravo if I'm feeling nostalgic!

Great forum and doubt I'll be fit to tackle anything on the Skoda without something like this.
