Started van up to drive home and Glow Plug Error showed on speedo.screen, drove home and tested it with basic diagnostic tool and no error stored.
Tested heater plugs and all showed a resistance as per normal simple test.
Checked heater plug relay, there are two plug sockets one has four pins going to the heater plugs all showed continuity OK. The other plug has a battery voltage to the centre and has four other pins which I left alone as assume ECU controlled.
Output from relay goes quickly from around 10volts down to the roughly 4.4 written on heater plugs. One heater plug was faulty , replaced the set and now no warning on dashboard.
So I am hoping the one faulty heater plug was the cause of the error message and not a dodgy relay chucking out 10 volts before dropping to correct voltage, it only flicked to that for a second or so.
Has anyone else noticed that voltage flicker?
On my 2010 2litre 16v Scudo when heater plugs failed it recorded it as heater plug relay, but after testing proved to be two faulty heater plugs, on that Peugeot based engine it stored the error code. Incidentally those heater plugs are 11volt when testing.
