Hi folks - I recently acquired a '72 giardiniera. It currently is outfitted with rear tilt/vent style windows, but I would like to convert these to the sliding version. I purchased a used set of glass and frame set, along with new gaskets, and I confess I'm having some trouble thinking through the fitment of each piece before I start taking out the old glass. I found the body panel documentation (very helpful - thanks to the forum), but the gaskets that were supplied don't seem like they'll fit into / stretch around the frame. I attached pictures of the various profiles of the gaskets and frames, plus a picture of the opening on the car as it exists today. I'm pretty sure one of them is not needed.

Does anyone have any experience or tips they can share?

Also, is it best practice to hold the frames in place with a screw or two? Or just press fit?

For future reference to anyone else attempting this - I got one sliding window installed, but it sure seemed nearly impossible and was a tough job. This is essentially the same method used for the 600 Multipla rear door sliding windows.

The double channel gasket did fit, but not very well; I had to trim the inner diameter corners a bit to make it sit nicely in the track. The outer gasket also fit OK once it was under pressure between the window frame and the metal trim around the glass. Chris Obert at Fiat Plus was helpful and suggested some silicone safe lubricant to help get things in place. I was able to get the bottom edge semi-seated first, then get the two glass panels into their felt channels, then gently trying to work the rest into place, pushing hard from the outside and using the rope-in method on the inside simultaneously.

Some notes... I could manage to get the locking/latching track inside, it was just too many pieces to juggle. Not that it would have made much difference as sliding the glass is very, very stiff. I intend to leave it open basically all the time so my pup can stick her head out the window. I'll need to wait another few months before I can muster the mental fortitude to try the other side.
