IMO it'd probably be cheaper, and more "feasable" in the long-run to do the much-debated 20VT conversion.

Chances are it'll probably be more reliable too than a 1600 that's pushing 150BHP.

Ian: Its an 1800? :) Even so, I'd agree with you.

I have toyed with the idea.. But, well there's no buts really apart i'm crap at saving up i usually end up buying smaller things than spending out alot on one thing (back ended coupe) and then another (getting it put in the car!). Plus a 20vt won't fit in mine i'd have to find a 16vt.

And yes i got a spoiler coming.

1800, yes.. Duh! Was thinking it was the same as Tom's for some reason :)

The spoiler like Smee had was beautiful - I saw a lichen green brava with tinted windows and that same spoiler in Cheshire about 3 years ago - it was beautiful.

Why wouldn't a 20VT fit? Because of the wings?

I thought the subframe/mounts etc are all the same?

Apparently the hgt has the wider wings etc to cope with the 5 cylinder engine block which is the same as the 20vt coupe engine, i'm pretty sure that the rest of the bravo/a range has a smaller wing width that can only accomadate the 16vt coupe engine. Thats what (i think) i've picked up from nosing around fiatboo for a couple of years!

But anyone is welcome to correct me if i'm wrong!

The engine bays are IDENTICAL.

the engine bays are identical. all the coupes have the same track width as the hgt so it wont make a difference if its a 16vt or 20vt. you will have less trouble finding a good 20vt motor than a 16vt motor.

I stand corrected! :)

aye, further backup on this. the only reason the HGT wings are wider is to provide a more aggressive stance.

and to completely annoy and blag the head out of any owner who wants to order wings lol so as it takes 3-4 attemps for a company to get the right wing lol

back to the premier

Even if the engine bays are the same size, aren't the wider wings to accomodate the slightly wider front track of the HGT?

I couldn't imagine a cash-strapped FIAT creating new steel body panels just for aesthetics.

well they did! dont forget they use them on the marea too.

"the wishbones are an inch wider on either side on the hgt"

True?

Then they didn't...
