Went into Halfords today

"Inline universal fuel filter please"

H. "Sorry we don't do universal ones only for specific models, what's the reg no?"

Gave reg no. For a 1000cl so carbed model.

H. "Sorry we don't have one in stock but I can order one in for you. £24.40

"But it's just your normal clear plastic inline filter with an in at one end and an out at the other!"

H. "They're all in boxes so I don't know what they look like"

I gave up and went half a mile down the road to a normal motor factors, had one in my hand within 30seconds, £2.70.

Maybe you should wholesale some to Halfords - £10 a time should give them a decent markup

I avoid Halfords at all costs, its seems they are a complete waste of time in my experience, never have what you want, and usually don't have a clue what it is anyway. With a trade card prices are not too bad, a litre of brake fluid costs something like £9 normally, with a trade card it is about £2 or something silly, shows how much they make on things(n)

Normally not their own brand items you get a good discount on though. I tend to use them for none vehicle specific consumables :)

I'll forgive Halfords a lot after they sold me these for £57.50 (with tyres!):

 how'd you manage that?!
