I've always assumed if I crash the Panda, I die.

Sanremo - The car would take the sidewalk and would turn on itself 3-4 times. At that point, the two occupants, apparently unharmed, would be able to break free from the wreckage and escape.

This is an old story found on some Italian site, so the translation is almost readable.

Save for miracle after rollover car, an old Fiat Panda, a young couple and 'able to get out from the wreckage of the car and it' escaped, but the police have traced both. It 'happened, at around 23.10, in Via Pietro Agosti, in Sanremo. From the story of some witnesses, it seems that the two have fallen to speed 'rather high. The driver seems to be the man, he would have lost control of the guide. The car would then crashed into the sidewalk, turning on itself 3-4 times. At that point, the two occupants, apparently unharmed, would be able to break free and run away. Some passersby would have asked them if they wanted to for help, but they fled, without even respond. The police subjected them to alcohol and drug test to verify the integrity 'psychophysics, at least for the driver.

Thers no way this has rolled 3-4 times.

The 100 is of a similar vintage to the Panda.

When I rolled my first Panda (Mk1  one complete sideways revolution) my Son and I stepped out unharmed. I think the light weight of the Panda helps, it doesn't crush under it's own weight when it rolls, may well be a different story if you hit something though.

Well from personal experience (Well Dad and Sisters)

2006 Vauxhall Tigra hit them head-on at a slight offset. Panda was doing 30MPH with no breaking before collision, Tigra somewhere between 20-30MPH.

One written off Mint Selecta

Corner of the Panda hit the dead centre of the Tigra for ref so you can see how the energy has dissipated.

Its not nice, but survivable.

A few months before D-day

That doesn't really look that bad at all, obviously the car is in a state but the cabin space itself seems to have remained rigid.

You haven't seen the foot well, that was the only real intrusion, but don't forget lack of pre tensioners, load limiters and airbags don't make it as comfortable as a modern car to crash.

Glad you were ok - just goes to show older cars do survive. I've seen a few Panda's crashed badly where people got out fine. (y)

Having said that, while I don't think a crash should be comfortable (lack of safety equipment is good when it focuses your attention!), I'd rather crash my 5 star Punto and bounce around the airbags tbh!! ;)

not a panda but same maker and same era
rolled 4 times by my brother and him and passenger both got out with no injuries
car was a write off and someone stole the wheels the day after!!!
apology for the bad photo quality
