General  General Panda thoughts

Oh the memories.....when that first showed I remember it was a race to get on the forum and talk about it...I think it was a tie between me and Jim in NI. I think there is other stuff in the background. And the dash if I remember right. What about the top gear panda limo??? There is a pic of me in it on here...panda camp pics..:D

This was the first thread about that particular subject, anyone remember it? I bet Freddy does ;).

Is this the bit were we put our ramblings?

Here's mine for the day

Who needs this crap in their cars?

One of the reasons I like my Panda is that it doesn't have all this stuff distracting you from the driving. Ok its not a Lotus 7 but it does feel like your connected to the road and everything you do has a cause and effect, agree?

And I'm not a complete luditte either. I love the fact that Fiat Designers seen the future and knew we'd need somewhere to keep our laptops so gave us the big dash pocket to keep them in and it's cool that I can connect a Windows smartphone to the 'Infotainment System' (ok, the 1989 tape deck lol) via one of those cheap cassette adapters so I can sing along with Roxette :p

"It must of been love but it's over now.... "

I don't know, I miss my fiat stilo a lot (2.4 select) with the built in screen. It was not tech packed by today's standard but having calls routed though it was wonderful as well as the basic satnav and radio features.

My panda has nothing at current, no stereo, no 12v cig lighter and no speakers. Its my "shopping trolly car" and of no real issue but I couldnt do my normal london and back drive in it with out being able to put some music and podcasts on!

I have often thought of just speakers and a 3.5mm jack. Nothing really to steal and takes up no room in the dash. On Pandas without the radio console you can fit in 3 extra bottles of wine with your Chinese if your coming back from the off licence....

I commend you diligent research! I don't mind so much in the panda, its supposed to be simple and I do have a level of respect for complete lack of complexity.

to each there own I suppose,

My panda rant for the day..... I have a injector light coming on at around 70mph when I back off its fine. I need to get the cables for a ECU error dump :(

Whilst enoying your 'Joyride' ?

You prove your own point: Fuel injection = unneccessary complication!

Not really, its a single point injection, I have one injector to worry about, and two coil packs. I have a cam sensor as well as an O2 senser and water temp senser.

The ecu check will tell me what it expects the issue to be then I can fix it.

With injection engine, it works well or you have an error that's easy to locate.

with a carb you have more moving/age out of tolerance parts both relating to ignition, fuel, and air delivery which makes fault locating to the idiot like me more difficult.

I must admit, I dont like carbs, I think they are a pain in the ass. Setting them up on my motorbikes is some what of a black art... and you have 4 to get right with AFM and balance.

I just like injection....

well to be fair I've only got one carb, 4 would also qualify as over complicated really. No sensors, and no stinking lying scumbag of an ecu that casually tells you everything's hunky dory when the car won't even start :bang:(sorry, Peugeot bitterness there)
