Hi, I'm new here, so hope I'm posting in the right place!
I've got a 1.4 diesel Terra,1991, & am having terrible gear change problems! To get into fifth, I have to slam the stick hard to the left, as if for reverse, then hard to right when, sometimes, I can get into fifth- if it doesn't slip into third!! Also, it is very hard to find reverse. Any advice of anything that could be done, without buying a new box, would be much appreciated/

Thanks for that. If I climbed underneath, I'd never get back out again!! Will hopefully see Grandson weekend, & get him to look. Also now when I get into 5th, it jumps out after a short time.

Grandson just looked, as I now can't get reverse at all!! Seems the linkage from gearstick, aluminium, at sometime parted company with steel link into box- someone had bodged a join with self tapping screws, & it gave way!! Needs new linkage from gearstick to gearbox- would one off a Panda fit does anyone know? Thanks. Al.

Sorry al.....been busy

I've never physically seen a Terra although it appearss to be a Panda based model.

I've looked on ePER for these two gear rods and they are listed as no longer available from Fiat. Guess you will have to get your old ones repaired properly or see if an alternative parts supplier can help. (Recambio in the UK might be worth a try)

Sorry, s130, been away for a while- not in Terra, which is a camper, I hasten to add!!-Now got it over a pit , seems just 1 curved rod running from gearstick to coupling to box, rubber bush on gearstick mounting end seems loose & out of position & connector at gearbox end seems to have a ball shaped lump, for no apparent reason- probably off a later model. Waiting again for Grandson to help, may take it off to have a better look??
Cheers, Al

I hope these are 2 pictures, 1 where it joins the gear box, & 1 where it joins the gear lever, the gearbox end seems to be splined on, & someone has drilled & screwed it. Now part of the casting is broken, But is this the original part??
Where it fits gearstick, the rubber bushes? seem to have popped out, and are loose on the rod. I pushed them back, but 2 gear changes later they were out again! Anyone know what this part is called, & where can I get one please? If I go to a scrapyard again, I just might leave it there!!
