General Gearbox!

Hi all, I have a 2004 idea with a semiautomatic gearbox. The last couple of days it has been making a horrid grinding metal sound when in 1st and 2nd gear. Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

When does it make the noise? When trying to select gear or when driving along?

When driving along as soon as it goes into 3rd the noise stops

It's difficult to diagnose over the Internet. Are you able to upload a video of it

sounds like mechanical problem/damage in the gearbox itself..,

possibly just a bearing..
is it SILENT in the other gears or just less noisy..??,

Completely silent in all other, only noisy in 1st and 2nd

Hi again,
sounds like a fault inside the gearbox,

possibly a bearing.. either way - the only real fix is to remove the gearbox,
and repair / replace ,

with Idea values a good used replacement box is probably the most cost effective,

out of interest what mileage..?,

is it a 1.4 petrol..??
