General gearbox oil?

after many months of having an annoying noise and a FIAT mechanic said he couldn't hear anything I decided to have a look myself.

I have a clonking noise when changing gears, mainly lower gears 1,2 and 3rd which also happens when you take your foot off the gas but not as loud.

took the undertray off to find this

the pic below is of the gearbox (I think)

Now am I going crazy or is that a leak?

Also where is the refil hole on the box for the oil as it's the first time I've even looked at a gearbox

Looks like black Hermatite sealant to me.

Gearbox level/filler plug depends what box you have but it's usually about half way up the side of the box

Stains on the undertray could be condensation, air con drain water, nasty understains you name it. What does it look like? What is it - oily?

Yes it is oily, just took it to F1 autocentres and got it up on their ramps and your sport on deckchair about the sealent part the oil was coming from the boost pipe, but thats normal..... I think.
