I refilled my Ducato 2.5td 1990 gearbox oil with 1.7 liters but it was at the top of the dipstick. Took out another 200 mills but it's still higher than the suggested new level for the 5th gear extra. If there is too much will it vent out the breather or do I need to go suck out some more through the dipstick hole. Not the easiest task!!
Done a few slow miles but the level didn't change.

I don't have any accurate data re oil level in gearbox for that model, but in general, if oil level too high it will overwhelm the drive shaft oil seals and gearbox first motion shaft oil seals into bell housing/ clutch area etc. so best avoided;)

Thanks. I crawled under again and took another .3 liter out. Now sitting about 1/2 way over the old marking , roughly where the current advice says it should be. So far so good but it's a lot less than I expected to put in. About 1.3 liters. Perhaps some doesn't drain out the bung, trapped somewhere.?
