Hi all, just drove back from short trip. There was a loud bang and all the gearbox oil was deposited down the road. Thankfully I was nearly home. I coasted down the hill and was able to drive in 1st and 2nd gear up the drive.
On inspection there is a hole in the gearbox casing and I found a part of a sheared shaft and bits of casing in the road.
So has anyone any idea of specific problem and how much is a replacement gearbox, or are the parts available. Is this common?????????
only had it on the road for a week.

Thanks, for reply, I checked out roys post. I phoned exchange gearboxes in Hayes they said 695 exchange but 300ish if they can rebuild (weld the hole in the casing) and strip and rebuild.
I will take it out, strip it and assess the damage. If its not destroyed I will do it myself and get Hayes to source the parts if Fiat can't get the parts.
