Hi All

I am getting some parts together to get the Y10 ready for Panda Camp and the biggest decision I have to make is what to do with the gearbox.

The original box died in the late 90's when I ran it without enough oil :bang: so I got a replacement 5 speed rod shift panda item as a replacement when the y10 was rebuilt 4 years ago. Unfortunately it has never been the best gearbox and now makes the driving experience quite a challenge to say the least with gear selection being very tight and noisy affair.

So what to do? Get it refurbished? Swap it for another 5 speed rod shift Panda unit? Or convert to a cable based one from a Panda, Punto, Cento etc?

HELP

Cheers

Dave

p.s. just ordered some new gas shock for the front, poly bushes for the ARB and a lightened flywheel

OK the gearbox will be out in the next few days so need some advice on what to do with it if the old girl is going to be ready for Panda Camp.

Plenty of other things to keep me entertained but if I decided to sent it to get refurbished then better allow for a few weeks to get it back….

Looks like you've got quite a bit of 'entertainment' laid on there(y) Personally I'd say if reconditioning is an option then go for it (especially if you've got a place you trust to get it done), at least you've got a known quantity at the end of it and the gearbox isn't much fun to keep swapping out & experimenting with.

But that's your hobby isn't it?
