I hope its ok to post this here, its a Stilo related question but I thought some of you may have some input too and you probably dont look in the Stilo forum.
I need a new gearbox and clutch and my local guy has quoted around £700 for recon gearbox, clutch kit and 3 hours labour.
Im in West London, I am driving my sons Stilo at the moment as mine sounds like a tractor and I was told its unsafe to drive.
Is this a good price or do you think I can get it done cheaper? I dont want to risk driving the car miles to get the work done but I could drive within a ten mile radius if I take it easy. It still engages all the gears with a bit of persuasion and they never slip out it just sounds awful.
My mechanic is very convenient and I usually use him because I can leave the car and walk home but I am struggling to find £700 so if I can find someplace cheaper I will be able to get it done sooner.
