Hi, im driving a Fiat 500 semi-auto/Manual. has anyone encountered this incident before?
as I was driving at 80km/hr on highway. there was a jam upfront and thus I began to slow down. As I have slowed down to between 30km/hr - 40km/hr, my gear only shifted down to gear 4. however when I begin to step the accelerator lightly again, this caused the gear to be "confused", not shifting up or down, and caused it to become Neutral gear with a loud sound, and the beeping sound came to warn me. I had to stop the car at the side, shift the gear back to "N", and back again to 1st gear before I take off. is this solely because of my poor handling on a semi auto as I am too used to a Japanese car?

Appreciates if there are answers. thanks.

You have a 500 with a Dualogic robotised manual transmission, right? This has never happened to me, so it's not normal. If it happens again, you probably need to get the car checked out mechanically.

Also, I'm assuming you were driving the car in the AUTO mode, not manual? In manual mode, you have to change to a higher gear yourself (but if you brake, it changes down automatically).

Thanks for all your replies. yes mine is a dualogic manual transmission. Perhaps I need to get used to it. Also felt that this car is heavier than a Japanese sedan car, need to step more on the accelerator when going up slope on highway.
