Hi all, I wondered if anyone could help with this.

Lately I have been experiencing a strange feeling when selecting 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Mainly 2nd and 3rd.

The gear change seems slightly clumsy. It is hard to describe but it seems clunky and I can feel a slight grinding sensation when selecting the above gears but only when the car in moving, not when at idle. 5th and 6th slip straight in with no hesitation. Sometimes I go in to 2nd with a bit of a clunk which really doesn't feel or sound healthy and I can feel the clunk in my hand like it drops in to place.

The car is a 2.0 Multijet with low miles (41,000).

Maybe this is the norm as it seems a fairly "stiff" gear change anyway.

Thanks

I have a similar experience when shifting, clunk sound and some grinding.
M32 gearbox, 1.4 t-jet 120hp.
Had a mate shifting gears with the engine switched off and i was watching the gear box where the selector(on the gearbox) is actually moved by the cables.
I saw there is a lot of play in the plastic bushings especially in bushing 2 on picture - that would account for sloppy shifting and grinding feel.
It would seem the bushing only comes with the cables at abut 85 euro. Seems strange, because the M32 is used on multiple GM vehicles, but did not find only the busing on it's own yet. Searching for alternatives.
The selector itself has some kind of bushing on the piece that goes in the gearbox (not shown in picture ou will se what i mean if you look in ePear); also there is no grease on those parts - this where the "clunk" sound comes from on my Bravo

Sorry, the best i can do is post some google images of the M32 gearbox as i am 900 km from the car at this moment.
I repeat this is only for the M32 gearbox used in the 1.4 t-jet (maybe the diesels have others)
That bushing is a black plastic bit on mine, and it has a lot of play 3-5 mm

Look for the gear selector bit in ePear an d you will find it has a bushing that goes into the gearbox; also mine was way to clean - no vaseline /grease.

The view of the gearbox you actually get with it in the car (gear selector bit in yellow):

Below is the 2007 Nuova Bravo eLearn official gearbox usage by model.

1.4 16v = C514.6 (6 speed
1.4 16v T-Jet 150BHP = M32 (6 speed
1.9 Multijet 8v 120BHP = C530.5 (5 speed
1.9 Multijet 8v 90BHP = C530.5 (5 speed
1.9 Multijet 8v 115BHP = C530.5 (5 speed
1.9 Multijet 16v = C530.6 (6 speed

Note! The current 2012/2013, 1.4, 1.4 Multiair and 1.6 MJet all have 6 speed boxes so could be using either an M32 or C530.6 or another gearbox.

I have exactly the same issue in my car. I don't feel that it is a mechanical problem with the box itself but rather a linkage issue. Hopefully someone can clear this up for us.
It is good to know I don't have the M32 though. Austen if you manage to figure it out let me know if you use a reputable garage to do it as I only live 20 miles down the road and will get it done too. :)

I have my MOT in November and also a cam belt and oil change so will ask the garage to take a look then. I always go to Mastertech Autos in Eastleigh. They aren't Fiat specialists but are very good and do an honest and reliable job.

Glad it's not just me noticing this.
