Gay and Lesbian section in LL?

how about a i not gay i have a beard that just makes me look gay section :p
Yet again this kind of insidious Beardophobia rears its ugly head. Having a beard isn't just some form of lifestyle choice you know. Beardys aren't born that way, it's how society had made us. Surely we've moved on from the days when beardys used to have to meet in private clubs or some seedy dive.
This must be stopped immediately.

Actually, why can't we have a beard section? I bet we have more beardos than gays. (y)

None of the LL sections currently have any bias in terms of gender or sexuality. What you're talking about here is adding that bias.

Examples of exactly what sort of discussions you feel are unsuitable for an open forum would be advantageous because I struggle to see where it's needed... definitely talking about dodgy computers and filling the general Leisure Lounge with technobabble is best avoided really... Gaming once again has a language that's all its own... Imaging ties in nicely with a number of forum operations and as for non-FIAT... some do like to talk about other types of car from time to time... and it's better not to sully a good FIAT discussion board!

certainly placing a 'gay/lesbian' label on a discussion that could be just as relevant to heterosexuals as it would be to the homosexual community is a dangerous thing to do. Firstly it imposes barriers where currently none exist. You preach equal treatment, but you're talking about special treatment that is proven to fail because it introduces a warped dynamic and essentially blocks out useful input from those who may have valuable insights and skills. It damages you because you're only open to a limited (and let face it biased) group whereas a wider group with varying opinions and experiences can challenge your thinking. It also damages the community as a whole because you create a little clique for yourselves and make what is currently one group many.
