Hello everyone. Never had to do any more than check the fluids on a succession of new-ish Fiats in my family while I've done a bit of light tinkering on old Minis and Golfs.
Now the 04 Stilo 1.4 won't start (it turns over and shows 'airbag failure') so I want to check and charge the battery before troubling the dealer.
But I remove the battery/fuse cover to find a bewildering array of things connected to the battery terminals - and I worry!
Please tell a modern car idiot how to disconnect and remove the battery without cocking everything up.
Should have said: the instruction book has gone missing.....
Thanks in advance.

Just disconnect the main connections to the battery terminals - everything else is attached to these.

But before you do this, try a quick search re the air bag warning, there are plenty of posts on the subject.

remove negative terminal 1st, then positive.

there are two small screws, on red plastic holding the fuses to the battery. (correct yellow peril)

in front of the battery there is a metal bracket with a strap attached, locking the battery in place. remove the one bolt from that (it's 13mm)
then it should just lift out. (y)

the airbag failure light is due to the low voltage from the battery, not related to anything else (ie, loose connection under the seat)
