One of steel straps fell apart with rust.
It seems the straps are just secondary support. I put a doubled up back webbing strap on instead using the ends of existing strap to clamp it after punching holes in it.
Any reason this cannot be final repair?
It passed the mot on the straps on fuel tank.
I had to do fog light bulbs front and back but apart from that and some tyres on the back that were long overdue all was ok.
