I'm on my final way to put Panda's 1,1 engine in my Marbella. Still, I found out that Panda has fuel filter in the tank like newer Japanese cars. So, it is possible that I will need to replace fuel tank as well. Figures say that it has 43 litres and Marbella's 35. It is probable that it will fit in leaf sprung Marbella, but I would like to check with you people. Leaf-sprung car has more free space around rear axle than coil sprung one, but....

Unfortunately the Panda tank will not be a direct fit to the Marbella as they use completely different designs. The Marbella will have a steel tank mounted to the right hand side like early Mk1 Pandas and all 4x4s, the 1.1 Panda (I'm presuming is it a 2WD?) will have a plastic tank that is mounted centrally.

Your best bet is to get a tank from a late injected 4x4, this should be a direct fit to the Marbella and have the correct fitting for the fuel pump for the injection system.

I agree with all Freddy has said. The Panda tank extends to the rear beyond the position of the Marbella axle so would not fit.

Apart from the injected 4x4 tank the best option would be to use your existing tank with an external pump and filter, but the 4x4 tank would be much neater.

Thanx to you all. I was wandering about putting pump/filter unit in existing tank, but I don't know about its shape, will it fit?
Speaking of external setting, where to put the pump? It will be hard to find 4x4's newer tank.

yeah, you are right, I'm idiot, I completely forgot about internet options outside local places.... :) still, this price of about 150 euros isn't so small, but that's the way it is with spare parts - cost a lot when compared with complete car's value....I'll check on that anyway, but I'm interested is there any suggestions about that external pump/filter fiting, did anyone has experience with it?
Where is the exhaust silencer if the tank is in the middle? And how the axle gets in the way in Marb. and doesn't in Panda which has thicker axle? I'm confused, it would be nice if someone has the picture of rear suspension from Panda, I couldn't fins it on the web....

Here are a couple of pics to show the omega axle fitted to the panda......

With the external pump and filter it's possible to fit it wherever you like.

thanx again :) yeah, I imagined that omega axle shape got something to do with it....now I see. About the pump - it works on some pressure and I presume it is calculated to be strong enough to pull the fuel from the tank. If it stands somewhere under the hood, I don't know how will it work then in terms of pressure and etc.
.
In meantime, mechanic told me that fitting the carb instead mpi would be the easiest solution and it has been done already.
