Just getting used to our new X, navigating through all the instrumentation options can be confusing... just curious where I can find the fuel range readout, ( distance to empty) and can that be displayed on the digital speedo screen?

From the digital speedo screen, just press the right arrow on LHS of steering wheel and voila!!

Yes, I had great fun looking at all the display options available via the up/down and right/left buttons. In Sport mode, there is even a "g" indicator!

Yes, there’s an oil pressure gauge there too...

You horrified yet as to how little range there is (in a pterol at any rate!) - smashing car but very very thirsty.......

It’s not that bad considering the performance the petrol gives.

Indeed. My Trip B has been running for nearly 6000 miles and reads 32.2MPG. I don't do many long trips. Typical is 14 to 20 miles per day round trips and always in Sports Mode. On a 3000 mile trip down to Italy and back towing a 1000kg caravan for 2000 miles with the other 1000 miles spent on mountain roads I get just shy of 30mpg (29.x).

I think this is perfectly acceptable for a 140BHP petrol engine (1.4 Turbo or 1.8/2L naturally aspirated).

Not too bad in terms of range for a 1.4 petrol hoping it improves as the engine runs in

Just happened to check my A trip (normally use the B for short term monitoring). I haven't reset the A for over 4000 miles, and it's showing 37.5 mpg, which isn't bad for a 1.4 MA. No towing involved, and I don't tend to drive in heavy town traffic. Lots of runs of up to 15 miles, and a few long motorway runs.

I'm fairly hacked off with the actual mpg against the fiction claimed by Fiat. Measuring it in a vacuum inside a locked garage with the wheels off the ground is NOT the right way to make any claims..

First three tanks, average about 37mpg. Last fill I was by the M18 so the run home was careful and I reached over 58mpg but not exceeding 65 mph. I have to be very careful to keep it over 40mpg (I commute 50 miles each way daily on motorways) but town driving soaks it up and it drops off again. Love the pull though, a 2 litre is really nice ;)

The test is at fault, not Fiat. The car is tested in accordance with precisely defined processes, in a laboratory. That's what all manufacturer's do, and who can blame them for designing their cars to give the best official test results - they get fined if their vehicles emit too much CO2.
It's been known for ages that the official figures are largely unobtainable. Before buying mine, I checked here:

Further "real world" figures can be found here:

In response to criticism, the official test is due to change soon. It will be interesting to see if it is more realistic.

I've got the same as you and I can hit 45-47 mpg easily and 50-52 on a motorway at 70ish. The worst I've ever seen is 42 I think. Mind you, in Sport Mode forget it. Great fun though

I wouldn't complain, for a high riding 4*4 i think its more than reasonable. Very few cars get close to claimed mpg but you (we), as i have the same setup are at 80% according to this.

Still about 10mpg more real world than 1.4 Petrol turbo 2wd owners.

I'd also say, even tho i've only done 600 miles in mine now I can see the car being suited to low speed motorway driving as you allude to, at 65mph it'd be pulling circa 1,750 revs in 9th.

I'm finding slow town driving (with s/s off) very uneconomical but thats to be expected.

I did a run from London to Nottingham and back. Reset trip b at the start of the journey. Free flowing on the whole all the way there. Traffic on the M25 between the M1 and the M4 on the way back which didn't really affect the trip reading. 75ish all the way, with a couple of exceptions.

42.1mpg from my 1.4 MA.

I'm pretty disappointed.
