I have now managed to get my 16v turbo running however there seems to be a lot of pressure build up on the tank, it has started spewing fuel out the top of the fuel pump module this is with the gasket on (which has been slightly trimmed down as it did not fit which is temporary) I just wanted to know if this sort of high pressure is normal. Also little side note I have used the green wire as live and black as ground not sure if that is correct on the fuel pump please let me know.

Model
2.0L 16v turbo
Year
1996
⚠️ Immediate advice
1. Do not run the engine until this is corrected. Fuel spraying under pressure is extremely hazardous.
2. Correct the gasket/seal — don’t trim it. Use OEM if possible.
3. Verify wiring with a proper wiring diagram. Ensure correct polarity.
4. Check fuel lines and pressure regulator for proper operation before attempting to start again.

Hi thank for your reply I have just had a look about and I can't find a new gasket to buy anywhere any ideas?

If you can’t find a replacement gasket easily, don’t run the car until you sort the seal. Fuel leaking from the pump module is dangerous.
A few options that usually work:
Check the part number for the pump seal/O-ring in Fiat ePER or parts catalogues. Sometimes it’s listed as a fuel pump sealing ring rather than a gasket.
Try searching for it as a fuel pump O-ring/seal for the tank module rather than by the car model. Many of these seals are shared across several Fiat models from that era.
If you really can’t find one, a fuel-resistant nitrile (NBR) or Viton O-ring of the correct diameter can sometimes be used as a replacement, but it must fit properly and not be trimmed.
A used pump module from a breaker often comes with the correct sealing ring if the old one is missing or damaged.
But definitely avoid trimming the gasket. If it doesn’t seal perfectly the pump pressure will push fuel out again.
