hi folks not been here for a while, i need some help please.
i have a ducato 2.3 multijet 2007 motorhome, it developed a diesel leak a while back i have discovered the leak is at the snap connector joint in the fuel feed from filter to injector pump, its the join just below the starter motor where the feed and return pipes both have snap connectors.
anyway i have reason to believe it only leaks when engine is on overrun ie when going down hill or approaching junctions, roundabouts etc, its fuel is being forced back down feed pipe from HP Pump and finding the weakest link which is snap connector joint.
i have no warning light on vehicle runs perfectly no smoke, starts easily,
im wondering if fault could be suction regulator valve in HP Pump,
hope ive made some sense here and appreciate any advice and help
Thanks Eric

Hi Verescarey,
Thanks for reply, the pipe work from filter to hp pump is new, fuel filter & tan cap new, ive renewed pressure regulator in hp pump, its the snap connector in fuel supply pipe that leaks, only on overun,

Eric

Hello again folks, Well after months maybe years of struggling with this problem i think i have a result,
Many new parts bought & fitted, many diesel injection specialists visited, even left the van with two of them to no avail,
Anyway as last resort i thought i would check out the in tank fuel pump give it a clean only to find on removal it was very clean, emptied fuel out if it to find a few bits of muck in the bottom, gave it a good rinse out and was about to replace it when i noticed a of something in the bottom on removal it turnout to be a small piece of alluminium a bit thicker tha tin foil,
Replced pump started engine pump sounded a bit quiter than before,
Took out a run it was perfect, checjed leak on return joint was dry, done few runs since then and find leaky joint just a tad wet, no drips,
Sorry sutch a long thread but it may help someone in future,
Eric
