The fuel filter on my car currently looks like this:

Not good, I'm not entirely confident it will get through the upcoming winter with all that road salt spray coming from the off-side rear wheel arch where it's located.

So I have this:

I bought it years ago and is the right part for the car, but the garage I was using at time refused to fit it for me. They said it would be impossible to refit the plastic pipe connection to the barb on the union without splitting it and therefore I would need a new pipe. A conversation with a main dealer and ordering of a new pipe resulted in the wrong part turning up (a different shaped pipe for a later car). At this point I gave up! It would be a shame in the future if I had to scrap the car just because of a fuel leak from the filter.

Anyway, does anyone know where I could get new unions from. The "out" one you can see in the picture is a different thread (smaller) to the "in" thread at the other end. The "out" union comes off a 90 degrees and then has an approximate 90 degree bend before connecting to the plastic pipe that runs to the front of the car. The pipe has an 8mm outer diameter. I can't see the "in" side on the car and obviously do not wish to disturb at the moment.

There should be a plastic cover that surrounds the filter and protects the unions from such exposure to the elements.

I may pop to the scrappies if I were you and see if you can pick one up to stop the same happening again.
