hi any help would be greatly appreciated please , I have an 07 Citroen relay , same as the Ducato and I have developed a massive smoke problem. it billows black smoke and soot out and bogs down, once up to cruising speed it's fine but low revs when town driving or under acceleration and it's terrible , it literally looks like someone burning tyres under my van. the smokes also coming into the cab so I need it sorted ASAP. I thought maybe there was a fault at the egr valve but a friend thinks blocked fuel filter which would tie in with me being ( stupidly ) low on fuel and as soon as I filled up the next day the smoking started but it's got worse and worse . my questions are , does it possible sound like a blocked filter could be the cause? where is the filter situated and is it an easy job to swap, is the fuel system pressurized etc. basically I'm asking if it's worth attempting it on my drive or is it a garage job? thanks in advance

EGR or throttle valve. Your friend hasn't a clue. How can blocked fuel filter cause unburnt fuel it can only cause starvation which would generate a MIL due to low pressure.

yes as the man said above
a blocked fuel filter can give some white smoke but not black

yes blank it off they only give you trouble
more on a motorhome that's not used all the time
