Starting to miss a bit.

Recently fitted new plugs, leads, coils, ecu (due to fault from coil spike voltages) and crank sensor.

Haven't changed the petrol filter, if the car has one, since we got the car so maybe time to change it so where do I find it ?

Crack sensor was changed because the plug had an intermittent bad connection that was stopping the engine from starting. Perhaps the new one is starting to fail ?

I doubt its cylinder pressure as the car seems to be smooth and with plenty power. Misfire is only occasional.

Problem solved I believe !

Got the car to look at today and discovered a pool of water in bulkhead at the back of the engine.

The two drain spouts were gunged up so took them out, cleaned them and drained the water.

There's supposed to be a rubber grommet plate behind the air filter – its missing so I got a spare at the local scrappy. With the grommet missing, the pool of water was splashing out and dripping on the ecu.

Is there anything that fits over the rubber grommet on the engine side of the bulkhead ?

The two threaded dowels which the grommet fits on are rather long !

This one, its behind the air filter -

It certainly doesn't seem to serve any function but it does stop water, that hasn't drained out of the bulkhead, from spilling out on to the the ecu !

Anyway, the bulkhead drain spouts are cleaned out and with the rubber grommet fitted, all may be well.

i dont see how water could reach to top and squirt on ecu, unless two of those plastic drains are completely blocked

Indeed, that's why there was a pool of water in the bulkhead, both drain spouts were solid with gunge.

With the rubber grommet missing, the water could splash out on to the engine.
