I fit my new dials today, had a problem with the two small dials (fuel n temp gauge) sorted the temp! but now the fuel is giving me twice as much as I have in (had 1/4 of a tank now 1/2)
what are the options of why this is happening? and my car has not moved anywhere and god dont exist! :p

Nothing, its knackered now, the needles aren't meant to be remvoed, you can remove the needles and lower it again to approx where it was before.

Just lover them when no power on the dash.
When U turn the ignition, they will return to the right position - they should

No worries Anon. This happened on mine too.

I took my own advice and after installation of the new dials, I inserted the needle again with a full tank (ingnition on). I did not put all the dash back together right away. I waited till I used up the tank, so that I could check i'd inserted it correctly! (it's a bit hit n miss like this too, with the mph gauge, but that's easier to correct, ie you can tell instantly - if it dosn't sit perfectly at 0)

I had noticed it took a while for my fuel gauge to show less than full, and sure enough the fuel low bulb came on whilst the needle was too near the half way mark. So Next time I filled up the tank, I pulled the needle out again so it was loose (ONLY part of the way out tho- so the grommit was still stuck to the opposite side) and with the ingniton on, re-inserted it again. The needle was sitting in just the right place this time when the bulb lit up, so I can put my dash back together now :)

cheers Nico, I'll have to go throw sum fuel in her then i think, cheers guys!

Personally i would fill up the tank, then adjust it so it sits on the full mark.

(When your tank is full it probably sits just over the full mark)

This way, at least you know you have a little more fuel than the gauge says, not the other way round. ;)

@Daz - no manual adjusting of the dials when ignition is off. As I remember the dials get broken.
Turn the ignition off - and gently push down the dial to the 0 position. That will do - it did for me.

^ ^ ^ ^
I meant when the ignition is ON.

Sorry

I adjusted mine when they were on, i didnt turn the needle though...(needle off, ignition on, push on needle)

Some of the dials maybe different as when i put the needle on (when ign. off and at 0), as soon as i turned the ign. on the needle was showing about -1/4 tank...lol

I was lucky when i first did it, as i knew i had exactly half a tank, but the second time i forgot to check it...

But if you can do it with the ignition off, its certainly better
