right i have a fiat bravo r reg 1.4sx and i think im not gettin very good mpg...

if the tank is half full i get about 110 miles before the light comes on... is that about right???

You cant really tell from 'half a tank' as the notches on the gauge are not reliable. You may notice that you get over 200 miles from the first half!!!

Best way is to fill up and set ur milometer to zero. Next time you got to the petrol station fill up again and check your milometer. That way you can see how many miles you have done and how many litres you have used. You can then calculate your mpg.

Sounds about right...

The gauge on the dash in my 1.6 gets about 180 from the top half and then about 140-150 from the bottom half.

Also the 1.4 12v engine was an experimental jobbie by Fiat and as such wasn't very efficient.

Fuel Consumption

My 1.9TD Fiat Marea R reg, gets about 435 miles from a whole tank mostly on a long smooth driving route.
Or around 40 miles to every fiver put in driving down here on the Isle of Wight, on our damn traffic light filled roads.
But we are now paying 82.9p for diesel at the mo.

I have a 1.4SX with a induction kit and ecotek valve and i get from the half full mark approx 145 miles, thats driving on mixed roads and conditions. For the 1.4 its not to bad, although my 1.8 Ford Zetec did do better!!!!!

ecotec

how and where on the engine does an ecotec valve thingy go? is it any good? I have a 1.4 also

Fuel Consumption

I am pleased to see that Rob gets 435 miles from a tank full in his Marea 1.9TD, I get 420 to 440 from my Bravo TD100 and wasn't sure if that was right. I average around 39 to 40 mpg.

Can anyone tell me what they get on a full tank for the following.

1.2
1.4
1.6

I have a 1.4 and used to get about 300 but the last service after timing belt change it has slippd to about 270. A guy I work with says he gets about 380 on a 1.6 so I'm not sure whether to go for a 1.6 or 1.2 next.

In my 1.6 I get a pretty consistent 340 from a full tank, but not running to completely empty. Mostly Motorway driving - but that doesn't mean fast - 45mins to do 20ish miles.

Get a few more miles and a noticible improvement in response from Super Unleaded - it's just getting hold of it (Apart from Optimax - Shell - Euuuggghhh!) really...

Re: Re: fuel consumption

I can get up to 480 miles out of a tank with my 1.2, but it's normally nearer to 450 before I fill up. It seems to average between 43 and 46 to the gallon.

It's also a bit quicker than the 1.4: I guess tecnology had moved on.

Ecotek Thingy

David,
I've had a valve fitted for 12 months now to a Marea 20v. Fuel consumption improved by 10%. Also engine pulls smoother @ low revs & delivers power better at the top of the rev range. Fitment is easy see link for further details. http://www.ecotekplc.com/fitting.htm

Had no ill effects as some people think ( ie weak mixture, simply not true )

Re: Re: Re: fuel consumption

Erm...
I'm currently getting about 350 in my 1.2!!!!
However, the plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter are due for a change and I have a slight blowing in my exhaust. I also rev the little bleeder a bit.

There's my excuses anyway

Seem OK

I have an R-reg 1.4 sx too.

I get 275 - 300 miles out of a full tank.

I KNOW this so I fill up when I get near that level - dont pay too much attention to the gage.
