I ve actually done this twice putting petrol into a diesel from when the tank was empty and brimmed it. The first time I drove about half a mile and the car started kangarooing. I stopped and had it towed to a garage who flushed out all the fuel (what a waste!). He managed to get it going and I had no problems. Second time I put about half petrol on top of diesel and drove 10 miles or so before I noticed. Had it flushed again and all seemed OK but I have an intermittant power loss problem now which I am told could be a damaged fuel pump due to the misfueling. Iive been told the fuel pump is linked to the ecu and you cant use a scrapyard model! quoted £2000.

I would get the fuel system flushed and see if that sorts it out

put as much more fuel in the tank as you can, make several trips with fuel cans if you need to, keep turning it over, it should be ok thats a pretty small amount to be honest, however if it was me and I had the time I would disconnect the fuel filter (i assume its at the back somewhere near the pump) and jump the fuel pump to run constantly, pump all the fuel out and then refill with petrol. It should be ok either way though.

But be prepared for it to be very smoky and dont be tempted to rev the daylights off it to clear it that wont help! Also might be worth sticking some new plugs in it when you have time as diesel is so much stickier etc

as above really, brim it with unleaded and keep turning it over, it will smoke more than usual because of the diesel being oily. then when you have it done get oil and filter change.

2L diesel into 10 L petrol is 20% diesel. Way too high. If you fill the tank with petrol, you will be down to about 3.5% and will be OK.

yes we are
