Is yours still an original? I ask only as my dealer would fit new breather pipes without letting customers know.

Yup. The car's never been anywhere near a dealer since I bought it, except to have a key reprogrammed - which was done in the car park with me standing over it.

This may explain all the dents, scuffs, dings, scratches and collateral damage it hasn't got ;).

Mine hasn't has had any collateral damage other than the allignment being put out :p

The factory are perfectly capable of doing that at source without any help from the dealerships .

(and you'll find that sentence will align better if you take out the extra "l" :p;):)).

I don't think it's that weak if you take care.

My car is 3.5 years old and I've always taken care to never tangle it or twist it or get it caught and it's in as good condition as it was when I got it.

It decintergrated and perished on my Stilo, that was with taking care and not tangling it (n)

Filled up for the first time since reading this thread and locked my flap first time.no more standing struggling till I fluke it on

Fairly easy when you've the nack :D

The highlighted bit is the important point here.

Knowing about the stuff that has caused other folks problems helps me to pay particular attention to those points. That's one of the great things about this forum (y).

The 500 is adequately robust in the hands of the mechanically sympathetic. Thus far in almost three years, I haven't lost a washer jet, my door handle hasn't fallen off, my sun blind works just fine, my brakes don't bind or squeal, my hatchback wiring is still intact, and my original breathers are perfectly sound.

But even if you made everything on the car out of duritanium, the hamfisted would still find a way to break it.

That's a bit harsh! The breather pipe was a manufacturers issue and the hatchback wiring.....there wasn't enough wire as verified by an indy garage.
