Front wiper problems

My front wipers have decided to only work when on the fastest setting, when on intermitent or normal speed they don't move at all and when I flick the stalk up to do just the one pass they will only move whilst I'm holding the stalk up.
I thought it may have been a faulty stalk but have just replaced the stalk unit to solve another problem I had and the wipers are still playing up.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this problem ?
Is it likely to be the motor or a relay somewhere ?

Check the connector on the motor and the relay - they are both under the plastic under the windscreen.
