Front wing removal!

Last question....before I beg, steal or indeed borrow a manual for the car. How does one remove the front outer wings please?

I need to get these off to get access to repair some other parts, and truth be told there bin material now due to a poor repair in the past. I would rather not have to write off two days repairing each one when I can buy new cheap

Thanks,
Sam

Panels for MK1 as said before...new and cheap...did you get the link from Chaz???

I did, I can get them with relative ease as there is a distributor not to far from me.

The question was (I should have been more clear sorry) how to actually remove the existing one's from the car?

dam! I was hoping it would be a case of bolts

So just run the grinder across the top of the seam (panel side) on the top of the wing and take it from there :(

I just hate the idea or taking a grinder to the poor old girl!

Hey, I am working on a wing too. Fortunately removing mine was quite easy as after a very bad repair at a body shop I just tugged it off. Angle grinder otherwise I am afraid. Just go slowly to avoid cutting any of the inner wing or A panel.
Then its a case of spot welding the wing back on at the seams. You might have to rebuild some of the seams, I know mine pretty much disapeared!

Hope thats of some help, its annoying they didnt bolt the wings on but thats how they made the car so cheap at the end of the day.

Cheers,
Si

So, to clear this up in my head (as I have the panel and am about to remove the old one when it stops f*****g raining :bang:
Top seam is spot welded - have a drill bit to remove them.
What needs grinding?
On the new panel, there is a little tang on the after edge that looks like it will support the joint to the next panel. Is this accessible from the wheel arch once the inner liner is removed?
I am thinking of cutting a big hole in the old panel so I can see inside and maybe get a better idea of how it is fixed
Can't find a YouTube vid of this, which is a first!
