Right .. should put this in ice but i feel it will get a better response here.

Im going to put a sub in the boot or 6x9's in the parcel shelf on my uno ..

now .. problem is

where can i put speakers at the front of the car? i cant find anywehre to put them so could someone post a pic of where they put theres please.

hopefully with as little work needed as possible !

cheers guys

I cut out some 18mm-thick MDF to make supports for my 6.5" speakers - the pieces are screwed to the back of the door metalwork, then the trim card goes on, and finally the speaker goes in with long screws to go through into the MDF. It has made a nice solid mounting that really helps the sound.

Strangely I can't find any pics of the installation, since
Here's a pic of what NOT to do... the speakers that were in my Uno Turbo when I bought it, four years ago.

And here's a pic showing the finished install. Note that the window doesn't go all the way down - stops about 4cm from the bottom when it hits the rubber-coated magnet ;)

i have 6*9 in my parcel shelf and a sub in my boot:yum:. The mk2s have aload of holes looks like vent in the dash either side?
well mine did lol
u need to take off the fusebox to take out the speaker though. :(

Alex's front install is the best way for the front speakers. Unfortunately you're limited with sizes, as the gap between the front door cards, and window is quite narrow.

For the rear, and particularly if you're looking for a stealth look, (ie: looks standard, but sounds rich and powerful), then I'd use the rear quarter panel cards, and fit 6x9's their. On my 60's, you can carefully cut away the backing to fit the 6x9's, but leave the front cloth. So that from the front they look like standard rear quarter cards, but the aperture, and the room behind the rear quarter panel creates a nice area and perfect size for bass response.

Personally the less "on display" speakers and ICE the better, particularly as it's not difficult to break into an Uno.....

:)

Personaly i would never chop into my original door cards or rear quarter panel cards, (not original and no going back) putting speakers where the rear passenger sits is a no no!! always ends up them squashing, damaging them with hips elbows etc, there is more than plenty of space behind the dashand the sound is aimed at the driver not your carpet! and the speakers in the rear shelf has always worked in any car and is reversable as i have a spare shelf, a few anti theft tweeks keep it all nice and safe eg cat 1 alarm, locks replaced with blanks (no screwdrivers) and door pins removed and replaced with flashing led's, (no bending the door backand pulling pins) and i'm never far away and pounce like a ninja!!! Ant!

MK1 uno turbos have standard rear speakers in the rear door cards!

Ummm... 'standard' could mean 'fitted at the dealer's', given the lack of stereo/speaker wiring in the Uno when it came out of the factory.
Perhaps there is a cutout in the hardboard for them? I'd accept that as 'standard'. ;) If you look in the front door cards (a bit tricky on the Uno Turbo because they're covered in plastic on the back) you'll find some perforations (slotted holes) for a large-ish speaker in the bottom front corner. This is the Mk1 at least.

I agree with antsuno2 about not cutting holes (though, "hips and elbows" - just who do you have in the back of your Uno Turbo? :)) My excuse is that the right-front door card fell apart (the material shredded itself at the back edge) and the only replacement card I could get had a speaker hole, so I had fewer qualms about cutting the hole in the passenger's side card (which is just starting to str-e-tch at the back edge so will probably shred itself soon :()

The headunit installation in the Uno is particularly insecure, so you don't want to spend too much money on the stereo. These days over here, NZ$250 (92 pounds) buys a decent-sounding MP3 head unit and two good 'unbranded' component speakers like mine plus two cheaper speakers for the back are another $250-ish all up. I've spent an additional $500 on a sub and 4-channel amp, and now (for all my coolness) insurance companies won't insure the car any more. It's just "Computer says Nooooooh" all the way... Go figure!

The rear card speakers were a dealer option.

As standard they were only fitted with front speakers in the UK, but a lot of the Fiat dealers recognised that wasn't really going to cut the mustard with the potential younger buyers of the UT.

When I bought mine brand new in 1989/9, it was an option available for me. But I decided against it only that I like the look of the rear card without a speaker on it, I also thought about fitting something myself instead.

*reminder to myself* - never buy a brand new car!

It's a long time ago now.

The speakers as far as I know were a "dealer option", so not a Fiat option officially I believe. At that point most of the Fiat dealers operated through strict UK Fiat restrictions, hence they all used similar dealer options.

From memory other options available for UT were:

ABS (in the latter models)
Different interior finishes on the seats
Sunroof (as you mention)
Plastic grate fittment for the grill on the bonnet (Mk1)
Square driving lamps, integrated with the grill (MK1)

Some of these were dealer options, and some were Fiat options.

Other unusual facts:

A Brazilian verson of the Uno T was available with a full plush leather interior, and as standard Red/Black rear lights, rather than Orange/Red/White rear lamps on the Mk1

A weird decision by Fiat, as Brazil is a poor market.
