Front Speakers Help!

I have a small problem, when installing my front speakers, they, erm, stopped workin! I put in the drivers side first and tested, it worked fine, i then put in the passenger side, when i turned the head unit on, all i get now is a small kind of pop, and then nothing! Ive tried the speakers on another stereo and they still work, so ive not blown them! Im using the standard wiring so i dontknow if theres possibly a fuse or something connecting them? I'll need to try them with a wire direct from the headunit and see if that helps, if so, does anyone know the easiest way to run the wire from the unit into the door, and also up to the tweeter? Thanks for your help!

Check that the connectors on the speakers arnt touching the metal on the doors (put some tape round them)
