Front help plz

Ok, i thought it was only my bravo, but i went to scrappies other day and saw two bravo/as with exact same prob. The joint of the front wiper arm has..some sort of white stuff on it. From a little distance, it looks like bird c**p, but closer up, it seems like sumthing else..mixed with c**p! :-|
Anyone ever had this before? And also, can you tell me how to take the arm off please, as it doesn't seem straight forward as the rear arm?

White stuff= possible corrosion, normal. just clean and paint.
How to take wiper arms off= normally a 10mm nut under a plastic cover that you pull up.
