Hi all
I am in a bit of a dilemma, 2002 1.9 jtd Multi just failed its MOT needing rear shock absorber, one rear tyre that has a bulge which is no big deal but the real headache is it also failed on Parking brake mechanism - told i need a front handbrake cable mount which can only be obtained from Fiat and comes as a whole unit costing over £100 plus fitting. My dilemma is that i was already considering selling the Multi after owning it for the last 11 years - the car is in excellent condition with loads of history and showing 113k and the engine is fantastic - coasted through the emissions - is it worth fixing or cutting my losses and selling on ebay as MOT failure ? It's a shame the car in in great condition inside and out!
Would anyone know where i could get hold of a cheap parking brake mechanism? I am in Colchester.
I've still got existing MOT to run until beginning of May so can at least use it for a few weeks!
Cheers,Chris

I'm thinking this is part of the actual handbrake lever.
Here's one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-MUL...144909?hash=item33e5e24b0d:g:egQAAOSwh41auee4
Others may be available, but I stopped looking.

According to ePER, the parts listing, there are only two, LHD or RHD.

Or take yours off and see if it can be welded.

If this is broken, or fatigued, you also have to think abut why.
Is it just many years of wear & tear.
Has it suffered too much unnecessary heaving. Many people seem to keep pulling after the brakes are fully applied.
Are the cables stiff, requiring too much effort.
Are the mechanisms in the rear drums/calipers working freely, or do they need cleaning up.
Consider all the above, and make sure the cause is fixed as well as the effect.

Thanks for the reply, car now taken as a p/ex so hopefully will be saved and not scrapped.
Cheers
