Did you read the note on the europerformance website that a coilover in some applications is not possible. well I think you may find that it is not possible with the uno without some modification, and do you realy need it in the rear. I have had custom Bilstein coilover shocks made for my race uno, and the conclusion with the rear is that along as you can make an adjustable spring platform ( which we have ), then you do not need a strut back there, so you can save weight and money and just get a replacement for the standard shock. I highly recomend it. I will try and post some pictures to show you soon.

this rear beam looks a little bit smart! impressive. any more pics of the rear beam and suspension? where did u get the beam from?

Ok so this is another pictures of the new rear beam. As you can see it is not a beam anymore. I had it custom made by a race car fabricator in New Zealand. It is made from crome molly tubing just like the stuff you use in rollcages. It has a rose joint to connect it to the body in the same place as the original, and the shock is located in the same place as original. The big change is the placement of the spring.

As you can see with this photo from the top we have cut two holes in the floor directly above the beam. Here we made a "Top Hat" that the spring sits in. We attached the adjustable plateform to the beam and the spring just sits in the hot of the "topHat"

Apart from the beam now beeing completely adjustable ie camber toe in and toe out we saved 20kg in weight over the original beam.

Oh and I forgot to say (in the above photos) it looks a bit funny under the back of the car because we cut out all the floor and all you can see is a carbon fibre cover that now replaces the old floor.

They had to remove the old beam, or just get another beam from a wrecker, and they measured that up just making certain to keep the original pickup points. Any good fabricator wont have any problem with it. We made the "top hats" that big so they would fit the standard size coilover springs that you can get at any suspension supplier at any spring rate.
Have fun, and realy it was not that expensive, just get a quote first from a few different people.

Brilliant solution mate (y)

Im just thinking, if i was to have a rear beam made up in a simlier fashion (Still non-independant so its still "original" to Fiats original layout which is good for me :D )....................i know the strut towers arent exactly what you'd call strong............im thinking when i get my welded in cage done........could i talk to the cage company about incorparting the cage on to the strut towers, like verticly in corparate it?

Too add extra strengh to the towers when the suspension absorbs the bumps... :chin:

Im pretty sure that would work and my UT will be stiffer than Duncs...............as it works in all aspects of life! lol

I said a long time ago I would get a photo for dunc of my race coilcovers, they are a little bit different to the standard coilover as the shaft is a lot thicker and stronger . Compare it to the koni coilovers that steve put on that white unoturbo and you will see what I mean. One problem is that they will cost a little more Oh well
