Free Music Production Software Mac

Does anybody know of anything half decent for free. I will be buying some software over x-mas but i just fancy having a fiddle around with something until i do.

So the next question is what software to buy. I dont know much a producing at all sooo.
I was thinking either fruityloops or Propellor Head. I am woried that Fruityloops going to be a bit too basic and Reason too complex to start out on.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Trial version is free of Reaper is free. I also know a lot of people that have switched from Cubase to this software as it's supposed to be that good

Cheers for that i will have a research of it over the next few days. I cant seem to find any sounds though. Anybody know if i can download sets from specific genres.
